Smitty on the course

"The best thing about golf isn't the score — it's the people you share the round with."

The Story Behind Smitty Golf

Golf Gave Me
Everything

My dad put a club in my hands when I was a kid and transferred his passion for the game straight to me — he was my first teacher, gave me my first set of clubs, and about 20 years ago we joined a men's association together where we played every Saturday. It became our ritual: four hours walking fairways, talking about life, laughing at the bad shots and celebrating the great ones. Golf was our language. It didn't matter how the week had gone — when we were on the course, everything else melted away.

He taught me how to read a green, and showed me that the game is never really about the score. Golf is still our common bond — we talk golf all the time, breaking down swings, debating the best courses, reliving old rounds. The conversation never gets old.

And now the game has given me even more people to share it with. I play a lot with my brother, and I was invited into a Sunday league that embraced me from day one — a crew of guys who started as playing partners and grew into lifelong friends. There's something about spending four hours walking fairways together that breaks down walls and builds real connection. The game keeps giving me people to walk fairways with, and I want to help you find yours too.

Golf travel on the road

The Road Warrior's Dilemma

Great courses everywhere, no time to plan

20 Years on the Road

Land in a New City,
Now What?

For decades, my job had me landing in cities I didn't know with a few free hours and no idea where to play. I'd sit in rental cars at midnight scrolling through Google, trying to figure out which courses were actually worth my time. Every listing looked great online. Half of them weren't.

I missed so many opportunities. Not because I didn't want to play — because I didn't know where to go and didn't have the bandwidth to figure it out. Work was the priority, and golf was this extra thing I had to squeeze in. The research alone was a part-time job.

I know that feeling. I know what it's like to have a free afternoon in a city you've never been to and waste it on a course that barely qualifies as golf. That's why I built Smitty Golf — so you never have to guess again.

Why Smitty Golf Exists

I Wish This
Existed Before

That's the thought that kept coming back to me. Through every stressful booking, every missed opportunity, every time I showed up at a course that didn't live up to the website — I kept thinking: there has to be a better way.

Golf is supposed to be joy. It's supposed to be the thing you look forward to all week. The thing you do with your dad, your brother, your Sunday league crew — the people who have become family. The excuse to spend four hours disconnected from the world, connected to the people walking beside you. The last thing it should be is a logistical nightmare.

Smitty Golf is the tool I wish I had during those years on the road. It's the trip planner that understands what golfers actually need. Not just tee times — the whole experience. The courses, the hotels, the restaurants, the car rentals, the group coordination. Everything in one place, planned together, stress-free.

My hope is that Smitty Golf helps you get more joy and enjoyment out of this beautiful game. That it helps you play beautiful courses and make beautiful memories with the people you care about — the ones you want to spend four hours walking fairways with. Because at the end of the day, the score doesn't matter. It's the laughter, the friendships, and the shared experience that you'll remember forever.
